Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week is here! Traditionally celebrated in February, RAK Week is an opportunity to break out of your comfort zone and commit intentional acts of kindness that benefit those around you. Will you become the next RAKtivist to join this global movement?

How can I become a RAKtivist?
Opportunities for “RAKtivism” are everywhere. Acts of intentional kindness can be large (such as creating a charitable fundraising campaign) or small (such as offering an elderly passenger your seat on a bus). Every act of kindness matters because it can inspire others to generate their own intentional acts of kindness.

What new changes should people expect this year?
Random Acts of Kindness Week has always been celebrated in February. In recent years, a new awareness holiday began showing up on calendars: Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is designated for February 17. To make things less confusing, the organizers of RAK Week have decided to consolidate their efforts and focus on RAK Day. However, people are still encouraged to get out of their comfort zone and do random acts of kindness all week long—and all year long!

How is OOROO Auto is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week?
Here at OOROO Auto, we love RAK Week! Each of our employees tries to live the RAK mentality every single day of the year. You’ll see it in our authentically friendly approach to customer care and our honest, transparent pricing policies. But this year, we’d like to go a step further. OOROO Auto is proud to showcase our Be Kind mural in our shop! It was artfully created by the folks at Ben’s Bells.

What is Ben’s Bells?
Ben’s Bells is a nonprofit organization. Their mission is to raise awareness about the benefits of intentional kindness and to encourage others to embrace intentional kindness as a way of life. In 2009, a world-renowned mosaic artist, Isaiah Zagar, joined forces with Ben’s Bells to teach his method for creating mosaic art to a group of students and community members. Since then, organizations—like OOROO Auto—have been sponsoring murals to support the mission of Ben’s Bells.
