Day Trip Destinations for Lazy Tucson Weekends
The weekend is a great time to break free from your routine and have some fun! But not every weekend has to be a grand adventure—you can have fun without straying too far from Tucson. Biosphere 2
Operated by the University of Arizona, Biosphere 2 is an enclosure designed to replicate the Earth—which is Biosphere 1. This self-sustaining space is used by scientists to study climate change and other factors impacting the planet. Bisbee
If you haven’t been to Bisbee before, then you’re in for a treat. This town is located approximately 90 miles away from Tucson and is home to many wonderful shops and attractions. Check out the town’s art galleries and tasty restaurants, or take some time to learn about Bisbee’s fascinating mining past.
Kitt Peak National Observatory
Tucson residents with a passion for stargazing are sure to love a visit to Kitt Peak National Observatory. You can visit the Visitor Center every day from 9:00am to 3:45pm. There are also daytime and nighttime programs you can register for so that you can learn more about solar telescopes, stargazing, and other topics.
Tombstone
If you want a true taste of the Wild West, head over to Tombstone for a fun adventure. This town is famous for its silver-mining history as well as for being the location of the infamous shootout between Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp at the O.K. Corral. Tombstone makes for a great escape from Tucson city life!
Kartchner Caverns State Park
